On August 28, Cascade County deputies uncovered a large animal cruelty case that led to 37 dogs and eight cats being rescued and brought to Maclean-Cameron Animal Adoption Center—staff quickly vaccinated, groomed and began basic training for the animals. The center now asks for volunteer support and foster homes to care for the remaining pets.

Realtor.com data for June shows that Cascade County's median home price dropped 4.5% to $325,093 from May’s $340,363; single-family homes declined 5.1% and condos fell 34.7% while total sales increased 11.2% over last June—indicating shifting market trends. The report also notes three single-family homes sold for over $1 million, even as statewide prices rose slightly—demonstrating diverse market activity.

Local leaders and residents recently celebrated the opening of the first permanent supportive housing as the 1913 Baatz Block building at 400 Second Avenue South was transformed into 25 modern apartments with on-site case management—services designed to help residents rebuild their lives. The project was funded through multiple grants and marks a key step in providing stable housing to individuals in need.
