About this event
As autumn settles it’s the perfect time to tend your gut with one of the most beloved traditional ferments. In this hands on, heart centered workshop, you’ll make your own batch of sauerkraut from scratch and head home with a jar that’s ready to ferment on your counter. We’ll also talk about the simple, everyday ways to support a happy gut, so you leave with a clear, doable place to start. (We’ll touch on the GAPS way of eating too, if you’ve ever wondered what that’s all about!)Gut health goes so much further than digestion. It’s deeply tied to immune function, inflammation, energy, mood, and brain health, and a growing body of research keeps pointing back to the gut as a root piece of the puzzle for many chronic health struggles. We’ll touch on the GAPS way of eating as one approach to this, so you leave with a clear, doable place to start. Gut health is linked to autoimmune, arthritis, hormones, ADHD, autism, schizophrenia, and many chronic health struggles.
Here’s what you’ll explore together:
• Step by step sauerkraut making, so you can confidently do it again at home
• A mini introduction to GAPS, short for Gut and Psychology Syndrome, created by Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride
• Why fermented foods, meat stock, and simple whole foods hold such a loved place in traditional kitchens
• The herbs traditionally used to support digestion, like bitters, marshmallow root, and chamomile, and how each one is use
• How to take a first step without feeling overwhelmed, plus time for your questions
Rooted in centuries old food traditions, this is a warm, down to earth class for anyone curious about gut health. No background needed, just bring your curiosity.
Please bring your own half gallon wide mouth jar!
