  • Before daybreak on Saturday, January 10, 2026, workers at Great Harvest Bread Co. start baking fresh bread at 4 a.m.—marking the bakery's 50th anniversary—while Fred's Snow Plowing crews work overnight to clear roads during unpredictable winter conditions in Great Falls.  KRTV
  • A conference organized by the Montana Environmental Information Center (with local nonprofits) brought residents, lawmakers, and civic leaders together in Great Falls to debate the rapid growth of data centers and address concerns over water use and sustainable energy for cooling.  KRTV

BUSINESS NEWS

  • At the GFDA Ignite event at the Newberry, local businesses announced plans for the upcoming year. Spiral Health Inc. plans a 6,000 sqft wellness facility in Geraldine and Mitchell Development proposed a 100-acre retail center on the east side — a project that may cost up to $800 million.  KRTV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Former students are raising funds to install a swing along River’s Edge Trail to honor teacher Josy McLean (28 years at C.M. Russell High School) who died on Jan. 4, and they aim to raise $4,000 with extra donations supporting trail maintenance.  KXLH
  • Great Falls College CEO Stephanie Erdmann will retire in July after a five-year tenure that boosted enrollment by 25% and expanded workforce programs; a national search for her successor will begin soon.  KXLH
  • Great Falls College received a $1.4 million donation from the Berkshire Hathaway Energy Foundation to launch a grid operator training center on campus. Construction begins early 2026 and the program will enroll its first students in fall 2026 (preparing them for NERC certification to manage the electric grid).  KRTV
