BUSINESS NEWS

  • National tariffs are not expected to affect lumber prices much in Great Falls as Steven E. Galloway of Great Falls Lumber said most lumber is sourced domestically for the busy building season. However, Cal Eklund from Eklund’s Appliance expects appliance prices to rise by summer—consumers may then be more cautious about buying new appliances and building new homes.  KRTV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Touro School of Osteopathic Medicine in Great Falls is using a new exam program—Objective Structure Clinical Examination—to train future physicians. Paul Sanchez reported that the program will help students practice the skills needed to work as doctors.  KRTV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Residents in Cascade County have shared frustration over feeling left out of county commission meetings—commissioners say they post only the legally required agenda 48 hours ahead. The meetings are held on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month—agendas are posted on the county website.  KRTV
  • The Great Falls Police Department began its front desk remodel on March 17 and the construction will take about four weeks. Citizens can still enter through the north side and drop off video evidence — the project is funded with state and city money — while a temporary window is installed.  The Electric
  • NorthWestern Energy has begun work on the Black Eagle Dam enhancement project with road and trail closures in Great Falls to install new support structures and improve the dam’s spillway. Crews will install a barge anchor and deliver equipment by barge—trail users should expect brief delays as materials cross the trail—while work continues on the project.  The Electric

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • In February, Cascade County's median home listing reached $447,250, up 2.2% from January and 12.1% from last February according to Realtor.com. Homes averaged 1,993 square feet at $214 per square foot and remained on the market for a median of 94 days+56 new listings were posted, a 12.5% decrease from last year.  Great Falls Tribune

SPORTS NEWS

  • Montana Grizzlies will face Wisconsin Badgers in the NCAA tournament on Thursday, March 20, at 11:30 a.m. MT in Denver (TV: TNT). This game is Montana’s first tournament appearance since 2019 and marks their second meeting with Wisconsin (as a 14-seed team).  Great Falls Tribune
