CULTURE NEWS

  • During Western Art Week, Great Falls celebrates Native Plains Artists with a series of free events that require no registration—full schedules are available on the tourism website.  KRTV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Great Falls Public Schools reported that four candidates have filed for three board seats with the filing deadline on March 27 — if no candidate drops out, the May 6 election will proceed. Filing forms are available at the district office and candidates must be registered voters who live within school boundaries — trustees serve three-year unpaid terms.  The Electric
  • Lawmakers considered House Bill 551 on March 19—this bill would offer free breakfast and lunch to students who qualify for reduced meals to help families facing rising grocery costs. Supporters said full meals will boost student learning and improve food security.  The Electric

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • At a March 6 meeting, Little Shell officials answered questions about their plan for an event center on Mount Royal that will include a 9,700-seat arena, hotel, waterpark, and other features. The tribe will submit a federal approval application and work with local officials on fire and utility services while construction is expected to start in two to four years — details on funding and annexation remain unresolved.  The Electric
  • City officials answered recent community questions about park work with a report that four workers removed heavy snow fence rolls at Sacajawea Park on March 7 and explained that boulevard tree trimming requests are prioritized by tree health and safety. City Manager Doyon added that Great Falls’ zoning follows a locally driven Growth Management Plan—reflecting community input while ensuring safe practices across park projects.  E-City Beat

  • The Scottish Rite Childhood Language Disorders Clinic will host a fundraiser on April 3 that will include a silent auction and a raffle for a $3000 travel voucher (or cash), with dinner tickets priced at $15 and free entry for children 6 and under.   • Madalyn Deiter, a sophomore at C.M. Russell High, became the first girls’ state wrestling champion for the Rustlers—earning Tribune Girls’ Athlete of the Winter Season honors.
