COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Emilie Center, a nonprofit run solely by volunteers, needs household items for those setting up new apartments in Great Falls—donations support over 50 local agencies and a garage sale fundraiser is planned for the end of April.  KRTV

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On March 26, warmer weather and calmer winds allowed many residents to burn outdoors legally with up to 14 active burn permits viewable online while officials monitored conditions to prevent wildland fires. Great Falls Fire Rescue responded to three residential structure fires between March 22 and March 25 – crews quickly worked to protect property and assist residents.  The Electric

CRIME NEWS

  • Jeremey Andrew Carpenter pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide for the July 11 crash that killed Daniel Orson Wells on I-15 and was sentenced on Friday to 20 years in prison with 10 years suspended—he may be eligible for parole in three years as his blood alcohol level was more than double the legal limit and cocaine was found in his system.  KRTV
  • Officers from Great Falls Police chased a person of interest in an armed robbery on Friday, March 28 at about 5:40 p.m. along Overlook Drive — an officer used a Precision Immobilization Technique to stop the suspect who was taken into custody.  KRTV

  • The Great Falls-Cascade County Historic Preservation Office has opened nominations for the 2025 Historic Preservation Awards to recognize efforts that restored local historic sites. Submissions must be received by April 8 (deadline) and nominees may include individuals, projects, or organizations (criteria established since 2001).  The Electric

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The City of Great Falls is partnering with Veolia North America to host a free hazardous waste collection event on April 12th from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the corner of First Street South and Third Avenue South—this event will allow residents to safely dispose of household chemicals and hazardous waste.  KRTV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Governor Greg Gianforte signed legislation on Thursday that permanently renewed Montana's Medicaid expansion program—providing health coverage to about 75,000 low-income residents and supporting reforms to the mental health system.  Montana Public Radio
  • The Mansfield Theater seating and ceiling renovation approved last year is facing a rising cost gap of $400,000, so city officials are asking community donors for help—an extra $80,000 will also let the city replace aging stage wood before it wears out, with work set to finish by the end of summer.  KRTV
