- ➤ The Montana Senate Taxation Committee rejected the governor’s tax plan on April 4th because the homestead exemption was too complicated; lawmakers will now consider other bills to lower taxes for lower-income residents and offer tax rebates and freezes—steps that keep tax relief efforts moving. - ➤ The Air Force started a new unit called Site Activation Task Force Detachment 11 at Malmstrom AFB on April 4 to lead ICBM modernization and guide the Sentinel system upgrade—Gen. Thomas Bussiere led the ceremony as Lt. Col. John Mayer took command. The unit began with four people and will grow to support daily operations and new construction this summer. The Electric
- ➤ The city public works department will start its annual spring street sweeping on April 7 — residents are asked to remove vehicles from the street between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. on their scheduled day as the work will cover about 300 miles of streets and may change with weather. The Electric

Russell High softball team begins its season on the road with a doubleheader against Billings Senior at noon and Billings West at 3 p.m.—returning five seniors and eight juniors after a strong run last season.
