  • Registration for 2025 summer camps opens at 8 a.m. April 15 at the Scheels Aim High Big Sky Aquatic and Recreation Center. The camps cost $190 per week — with 50% due at sign-up — and offer sessions for second to third graders and fourth to fifth graders over 10 weeks.  The Electric

CRIME NEWS

  • Police responded to reports of gunshots in Great Falls on April 9 when several people reported hearing multiple shots fired near Fourth Avenue South and 11th Street—officials confirmed one injury and advised residents to avoid the area.  KRTV

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • In the 1990s, whirling disease nearly wiped out rainbow trout on the Madison River—sparking intense research and public debate among anglers and scientists; today, trout have built up natural resistance while high water temperatures and low flows continue to stress our local waterways.  Montana Public Radio

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Montana Department of Transportation and Ti-Zack Concrete will begin repairing Sixth Street NW and SW in Great Falls this month and plan to finish by autumn. Drivers should expect one-lane traffic, slower speeds and temporary detours as the project replaces pavement, upgrades sidewalks to ADA standards and replaces a gas main—steps aimed at improving road safety and extending the life of the streets.  KRTV
  • Lawmakers debated a constitutional amendment bill in the Senate Judiciary Committee on April 8 that would define personhood from conception and put the issue on a November 2026 ballot. The bill passed the House with a vote of 58 to 41 (supporters say it will protect unborn life while opponents worry it may limit reproductive care).  The Electric
  • Legislators debated Senate Bill 379 on April 9, which would make state agencies write down how they work with tribal governments. Sen. Susan Webber said the bill would add clear rules—while some critics worry it could slow environmental decisions.  The Electric
