COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Great Falls will host two family events this weekend. The City will release ducks, swans and geese at Gibson Park on Friday, April 18 at 10:30 a.m.—staff move the birds from their winter home for a spring release—and will hold its Easter Egg Hunt at Elks Riverside Park on Saturday, April 19 at 11 a.m., with families told to arrive by 10:45 a.m. for eggs filled with candy, coins and prizes.  KRTV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Great Falls Public Schools board voted on April 14 to continue its participation in the technology multidistrict agreement with Belt and Vaughn schools. The agreement lets districts combine orders for tech supplies — it expires on June 30 and transfers to the fund will be reviewed by the board.  The Electric

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • City Commissioners approved a $446,462 contract with Advanced Engineering and Environmental Services to upgrade the water treatment plant sedimentation basin during their April 1 meeting—this contract covers design work, bid facilitation and construction administration. The project will begin construction in early 2026 to replace outdated equipment and improve water treatment.  The Electric
  • The Great Falls Public Schools board voted on April 14 to award a $549,734 contract to A and R Construction for wall repair — a partial roof replacement and drain work in four sections — at Great Falls High School, with work set to be completed this summer.  The Electric
  • Great Falls City Commissioners voted 4-1 yesterday to apply for a $2.5 million Montana Board of Investments intercap loan to fix the unusable Great Falls Fire Rescue training center on 9th Street South. City staff will use 3.5 mills redirected from the public library to support the project, which may run into next year.  The Electric

HEALTH NEWS

  • The MSU Extension office in Great Falls will host a free nine-lesson electric pressure cooker cooking and nutrition series that teaches making healthy food choices on a budget—classes begin April 24. Classes will be held on Thursdays from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Fresh Rescue Kitchen through June 26—participants who complete the series will earn an electric pressure cooker.  KRTV

  • Today, golfers in Great Falls enjoy sunny weather while course managers report that low night temperatures have delayed fertilizer uptake and left fairways partly brown. Officials say frost delays are needed to improve conditions as players like Jamie Kapp and Dylan Pawar continue to play.  KRTV
