COMMUNITY NEWS

  • On April 17th, The Electric celebrated 100 straight days of publishing local news by releasing 313 stories as it marked almost eight years of dedicated work in Great Falls—showing long hours and support from local mentors, readers, and advertisers. The milestone reflects the persistence of a reporter who has overcome challenges to keep the community informed.  The Electric
  • Nominations have opened for the 14th annual Paris Gibson Award, which honors Great Falls residents who have greatly impacted the community through volunteer work, leadership and selfless action. Nomination forms must be submitted by May 8, and the winner will receive awards including a $500 check, a memorial tree, a winners plaque and more before the Great Falls Municipal Band Concert at 7 p.m. on June 25 in Gibson Park.  The Electric

CULTURE NEWS

  • Today, Shrine Circus returns to Montana ExpoPark inside Pacific Steel Recycling Arena with shows featuring camels, daredevils, acrobats, elephants, horses, clowns and dogs at 4:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Additional shows on Saturday take place at 11:00 a.m., 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.—tickets are available at the door, Kelly’s Comics, Public Drug and the circus office.  KRTV
  • Great Falls Theatre Company has entertained audiences since 2021 with local talent lighting up the Electric City stage. In her 60s, Robbie Salcido joined the group and now works as stage manager for Comedy Night that will run April 24—26 while she encourages everyone to get involved.  KRTV
  • Great Falls filmmaker Jenniffer Robinson, who is blind, teamed up with others to produce a thriller called “Code Red: Operation Lighthouse” for the Easterseals Disability Film Challenge — a contest that requires a disabled person to be on set and highlights the need for disability awareness. The film will be open for votes nationwide through April 21.  KXLH
  • Duane Braaten, a longtime employee since 1997 and the former Director of Art and Philanthropy, will be named the new director on April 21st as he replaces Chris Warden, who is stepping down to work in consulting — Braaten aims to raise the museum’s profile as it prepares for the 100th anniversary of Russell’s legacy starting in 2026.  KRTV

  • The state health department and Gallatin City-County Health Department confirmed five measles cases in Gallatin County involving children and adults exposed to the virus while traveling out of state and now isolated at home – all are unvaccinated or have unknown vaccine records. Local officials are checking for further exposures and urge anyone unsure of their vaccination status to contact a health provider.  The Electric
