  • Dynamic Recovery, The Sober Life and Alliance for Youth have partnered with Great Falls Park & Recreation to adopt Chowen Springs Park through the Adopt-a-Park program. They will host a volunteer cleanup event on Saturday at 12 p.m. to keep the park safe and welcoming for families.  KRTV

  • Local artist Rebecca Liggett launched Growing Pines Handmade in her garage workshop in Great Falls, turning personal hardships into custom wood and epoxy art that now ships nationwide, crediting Montana values—resilience and creativity—for her success.  KXLH

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Paris Gibson student Alex Cole received the Zach Culliton Merit of Distinction Award at a Great Falls Public Schools art show on Friday, April 17 at the Paris Gibson Square Museum of Art, with works on display through May 20; overcoming seizures, Cole urged others to follow their passions.  KXLH
  • Great Falls high school teams are competing in Envirothon today, a hands-on outdoor contest that challenges students to study water, forests, soil, wildlife, and other environmental issues. Participants are taking written tests and giving presentations to show their knowledge.  KRTV
  • Paris Gibson Education Center student Alex Cole won the Zach Culliton Merit of Distinction Award at a Great Falls Schools art show reception on April 17.   • NOAA predicts the northern lights may be visible tonight in nearly 25 states while the Lyrids meteor shower peaks after 10 p.m.—states near the Canadian border, including Alaska, have the best chances. Montana residents may catch a glimpse by looking east after sunset.  Great Falls Tribune
  • Great Falls Public Works and Veolia North America will host a household hazardous waste collection event on April 25 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 112 1st St. S, where residents can safely dispose of items like antifreeze and gasoline (latex-based paint and mercury products will not be accepted).  The Electric
