COMMUNITY NEWS

  • During the winter, about 90 volunteers provided 828 hours over 73 nights at the cold weather drop-in center, serving more than 1,700 hot meals and hosting 25 to 70 visitors each night. Housed Great Falls and First United Methodist Church plan to raise funds for a pallet shelter community—featuring 20 single-occupancy units—to offer transitional housing for those in need.  KRTV

CRIME NEWS

  • Pam Polejewski was sentenced on April 23 for evidence tampering and solicitation after a two-day trial that led to a jury conviction on March 4—Judge David Grubich imposed a 10-year prison term with a consecutive seven-year suspended sentence, credited her with 312 days served, ordered $2,782.13 in restitution, and returned her to county jail to await prison transport.  The Electric

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Little Shell Tribe of Chippewa Indians broke ground on its Ceremonial Center in Great Falls on April 23 during an event with tribal leaders, community members and local officials. The new center will include a meeting hall for 200 people, outdoor gathering areas and a kitchen — it will anchor an 18-acre housing development with construction finishing in early 2026.  KXLH

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Great Falls city is asking local residents to apply for advisory board positions in areas such as auditing, business improvement, housing, library services, and parking oversight; applications are available at the city manager’s office or by calling 406-455-8450 (applications must be received by 5 p.m. May 20). Each board has its own requirements and term lengths ranging from three to five years, so interested applicants should review the details before applying.  The Electric
  • Great Falls Fire Rescue conducted homeland security training with the 83rd Civil Support Team at Voyager Stadium on April 23 — military vehicles, fire apparatus, and personnel were present during business hours. The agency will train at the former Children's Museum building on April 25 to boost its emergency response coordination.  KRTV
