  • The Great Falls Public Schools board approved a $154,300 contract with AT Klemens on April 27 to replace the fire alarm system at Valley View Elementary — work will begin at the end of the school year and finish before fall classes start.  The Electric
  • Governor Greg Gianforte visited Great Falls during National Apprenticeship Week to honor early childhood educators Lanelle Thurston and Brooke Meddock for earning apprenticeship certifications at Play 'n' Learn Academy — a step aimed at boosting local childcare skills and workforce strength.  KXLH

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A recent University of Montana poll shows 85% of residents support banning the sale of public lands — a result that highlights strong bipartisan support for keeping access intact. The survey comes as state lawmakers consider future policies on park and forest funding.  Montana Public Radio
  • City and county officials set a public hearing on May 12 for Janicki Industries' tax abatement request for a 185.5 acre site at AgriTech Park on the east side. Officials say the proposal is key to the company’s $830 million expansion plan that depends on tax incentives and improved infrastructure.  The Electric

  • Data from Zumper shows Great Falls apartment rents increased 7% from March last year, rising from a median of $1,256 to $1,347. One-bedroom prices rose 14% since last year while two-bedroom listings are slightly lower than February's prices + overall rents are 21% under the state median.  Great Falls Tribune

  • Great Falls Public Schools has launched a sports fan photo contest that invites families, students, and fans to snap photos at school events and tag GFPS on social media. Contest entries are due by May 14 and must fit the Fanatic Family, High School Homies, or Date Night category.  KRTV
