Calumet Montana Refining and Montana Renewables have multiple tax appeals pending before the state board; three cases covering tax years 2022 and 2023 and a protest filed in November to lower the valuation to $100,000,000 are set for hearings in May 2026—Montana Renewable also faces an appeal over pollution control equipment certification with a hearing in August 2025.
