COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Letter carriers will collect non-perishable food donations from Great Falls residents on Saturday, May 10 to support the 33rd anniversary of the national food drive—donations will go to the Great Falls Community Food Bank.  KRTV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On May 8, Touro College of Great Falls celebrated its first-ever graduation ceremony for 15 students who completed a one-year, 42-credit MS Program in Interdisciplinary Studies in Biological and Physical Sciences that prepares them for medical school & healthcare careers. Some graduates plan to continue their studies toward a D.O. degree at the local campus if they meet program requirements.  KRTV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Great Falls Transit approved a new Transit Development Plan that aims to add fixed bus stops, extend service hours and offer Sunday rides to better serve riders, especially on the south side near Benefis Health System. The plan outlines future route expansion, but any change beyond current boundaries will require a state process—voter review and board approval.  KRTV
  • Officials from Cascade County and the City of Great Falls are discussing how to use opioid settlement funds and are setting up a governing body to manage both direct allocations and funds placed in a regional trust—county and city leaders aim to clarify funding amounts and establish a clear interlocal agreement before making further decisions. The discussions come after meetings in April where some funds were already allocated to salaries and supplies.  The Electric
  • Gov. Greg Gianforte signed House Bill 74 that raised fees for private pond licenses—raising the application fee from $10 to $600, the renewal fee from $10 to $250, and adding a $250 transfer fee. The law also required sellers of fish, eggs or fry to secure a $2,500 corporate surety bond and maintain detailed records.  The Electric

  • Mercy Flight, a (27-person) crew, flies over central Montana to provide life-saving air medical transport from hospital transfers to urgent rescues in remote areas like the Bob Marshall Wilderness. The team recently brought an at-risk patient from Fort Belknap Clinic back to Great Falls and then readied for another call.  KRTV
  • Mercy Flight is a 27-person team that uses red and white helicopters and a fixed-wing plane to save lives in Central Montana. The team turned a routine training mission into a real rescue when it quickly transported an at-risk patient from Fort Belknap Clinic to Great Falls—showing its commitment to fast, critical care.  KXLH
  • Healing the Circle Lodge submitted a special use permit to build a drug and alcohol rehab facility at 2601 Jasper Road in Cascade County. A public hearing is set for 9 a.m. May 15 and owner Mike O’Reilly said his team—led by clinical director Samantha Romero—will use the existing building with only minor modifications to serve up to 18 patients.  The Electric
