- ➤ The Rotary Club of Great Falls will host its annual shred-a-thon on Tuesday, May 13 (at the Meadow Lark County Club parking lot). Participants will pay $15 per standard banker box (with proceeds going toward eradicating polio) and more details are available by calling 406-453-6531. KRTV

- ➤ Yesterday, officers responded to a report from a student who said a suspicious person was seen at Valley View Elementary and placed the school on lockdown. They later confirmed — by reviewing video footage — that no unauthorized person was inside, cleared the building at 12:25 p.m., and resumed classes while asking parents not to come. KRTV

- ➤ Mike Hoggan of Valier, who spent 42 years with the USDA Wildlife Services Program, will sign his book — Between Predator and Prey: Forty Two Years as a Government Hunter — at Barnes & Noble in Great Falls today from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. His book shares humorous and intense stories about his work managing wildlife from Nevada to Montana’s Rocky Mountains. - ➤ Pope Leo XIV, born Robert Francis Prevost in Chicago, was elected as the new pope on the second day of the conclave and becomes the first American to lead the Roman Catholic Church. Bishop Jeffrey Fleming of the Great Falls-Billings Diocese said he is excited about the news—he noted it is a joyful time for the church and a call to pray for peace. KRTV
