- ➤ Delta Air Lines will end its direct flights from Great Falls to Minneapolis-Saint Paul in September because slow bookings and a weak economy force the change. Airport officials said the same number of Delta seats will remain available and the route may return next summer if conditions improve. KRTV

- ➤ Great Falls musical icon Harold 'Bud' Nicholls died on May 11 at age 85. He taught music and performed with local bands — he received the Paris Gibson Award in June for his lasting impact on our community. KRTV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Montana’s U.S. Reps. Ryan Zinke and Troy Downing joined a bipartisan caucus on May 7 in Washington D.C. — the group will work to protect public lands and guide management efforts as a large portion of the state is federally owned. Montana Public Radio
- ➤ At its May 6 meeting, city commissioners approved the purchase of a 3.23 acre parcel at 5200 2nd Ave. N. for $374,000 to build a future regional stormwater pond (expected to ease storm sewer capacity issues and allow a sanitary sewer lift) that will support improved stormwater management in the area. - ➤ Lawmakers changed Smith River permit rules so Montana residents will have a better shot at floating the river next year—nonresident permits are capped at 10 percent and bonus point fees for nonresidents rose from $50 to $125 while locals pay only $5. The changes follow efforts from recent sessions to improve permit access for in-state applicants and help fund river preservation. Montana Public Radio
