  • The Downtown Chicks, part of the Downtown Great Falls Association, are hosting Military Appreciation Days Great Falls to honor Armed Forces Day from May 15—May 17, inviting military personnel, veterans, active duty members and their families to use special discounts shown in downtown store and restaurant windows. These discounts are available in stores and online with military ID.  KRTV

  • Pacific Steel & Recycling acquired Steel Etc., a company that for 26 years provided more than 40 jobs and offered steel and recycling services in Great Falls. The company confirmed that all employees will keep their positions and said the move will honor Steel Etc.'s legacy while strengthening the local economy.  KXLH

  • Sunnyside Elementary students got new books on Tuesday during their second book fair when each student took home four books from the 'If you give a child a book...' campaign—organized by KRTV to support literacy in the community.  KRTV
  • Great Falls Public Schools approved new elementary math materials during their May 12 board meeting. Elementary curriculum coordinator Rachel Cutler said the Amplify Desmos program—chosen with 80% support among five reviewed options—was negotiated to cost $910,650 for a five-year plan with both digital access and printed materials.  The Electric

  • The Great Falls Pre-Release Center now offers three new educational programs for offender referrals—cognitive behavioral, domestic violence, and victim impact groups—to help individuals understand their actions and their effects on victims. Agencies in Fort Benton, Shelby, Cut Bank, and Conrad had previously received these courses.  KXLH
  • City Commissioners approved a pass-through grant on May 6 to provide $20,000 in SHPO funds for the restoration of Union Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church—an effort aimed at repairing its exterior brick, installing a new lift, creating ADA-compliant bathrooms, and updating the electrical system.  The Electric
