On May 18, police reported that Great Falls tattoo artist Sarah Bailey was fatally injured during an altercation after a disturbance at Roberts Apartment when a 31 year old woman, Kelsey Staigmiller, unlawfully entered her vehicle—Staigmiller fled and was later arrested while Bailey’s body was found near First Avenue North and Fifth Street.

Roger Hawkes was charged in federal court after he allegedly stole an 18th- or 19th-century flintlock pistol and a replica knife from the Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center in Great Falls on September 14, 2024—law enforcement recovered the historic pistol after he sold it.

Governor Gianforte signed two property tax bills yesterday that will ease taxes for nearly 250,000 homeowners and small businesses by shifting higher rates to second homes, short-term rentals and large businesses—offering a homestead exemption and a one-time $400 rebate.
