COMMUNITY NEWS

  • On Friday and Saturday, Great Falls hosts many events including the farmers market at Civic Center Park every Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Family Fishing Day at Wadsworth Pond Park on Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon, a free Movie in the Park at Gibson Park after dark on Friday, a summer reading kickoff at the Public Library on Friday from 12:30 to 3 p.m., a truck show at Big Iron Truck & RV Wash on both days, and public dam access at Cochrane Dam on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. — a community celebration in Library Park on Saturday from 3 to 6 p.m. is also planned with participants advised to check for weather updates and trail conditions.  KRTV
  • Bicyclists and hikers will cross Cochrane Dam on Saturday, June 7 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to form a loop along the Missouri River — park staff and volunteers will be on hand to offer guidance and deliver interpretive Dam Talks.  KRTV

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Windy City Liquidations recently opened a bin store on Central Avenue in downtown Great Falls that sells items starting at one dollar from overstock and clearance inventories. The new business, launched by the owners of Twenty Past 4 (led by Michael Mattern), aims to meet local demand for affordable shopping.  KRTV

CULTURE NEWS

  • Historian Ken Robison released his latest book Lost Great Falls which details 24 forgotten landmarks and stories from Great Falls—he will lead discussions at The History Museum on June 14 at 1:00 p.m., at Cassiopeia Books on June 17 at 6:00 p.m., and at Great Falls Public Library on July 10 at 5:30 p.m.  KRTV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Great Falls Police Department will focus more on downtown safety after 911 calls dropped from 7,393 in 2023 to 6,263 in 2024 and 2,554 so far in 2025 (a change noted by the Downtown Safety Alliance) and will add more patrols to hold everyone breaking the law accountable (with efforts aimed at curbing transient misbehavior rather than targeting unhoused individuals).  KRTV

SPORTS NEWS

  • This year, an NFL Flag Football league debuted in Great Falls led by Mitchell Morris, George Fontanez and coach Zack Ringler to offer kids and girls competitive play. The organizers will hold a championship tournament on the 7th and launch an adult league in July — expanding local sports opportunities.  KRTV
