ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Great Falls Fire Rescue responded to a structure fire on Thursday, June 5 at a home near the 2700 block of Seventh Avenue North where flames caused heavy garage damage and thick black smoke spread over nearby blocks—no injuries were reported and the cause is under investigation.  KXLH
  • Great Falls Fire Rescue is battling a structure fire near Seventh Avenue North and 25th Street—residents are advised to avoid the area so that emergency crews can work safely.  KRTV

CRIME NEWS

  • James Patrick Adam Dennis, 36, was identified as the suspect in a high-speed chase in Great Falls on June 4th after his stolen vehicle drove into the city and he reportedly fired a weapon at officers before crashing at Second Avenue North—38th Street, causing minor injuries to two others and sending him to Benefis Health System for treatment.  KRTV
  • Great Falls Police said Thursday morning that a search is underway for 13-year-old Crosby Newman—who has autism and is very shy—after he was last seen at his home in Fox Farm around 3 a.m. wearing black boots, black jogger sweatpants and a gray or blue long sleeve shirt.  KRTV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Great Falls Public Schools board completed its evaluation of Heather Hoyer’s first year as superintendent by awarding scores of 4 and 5 in areas such as leadership and communication during a May 12 executive session—Hoyer assumed the role on July 1, 2024. The review followed standard procedures that included public feedback and a comparison to previous evaluations.  The Electric
  • Great Falls Public Schools Superintendent Heather Hoyer wrapped up her first year in her new role after 29 years with the district, saying the transition was smoother than expected. She noted that budget challenges remain and the district will fill open teaching positions next school year—her passion for education guides her work.  KRTV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • City crews will repair Park Drive from Central Avenue to 1st Avenue North from June 9-10 — drivers will find detour signage and traffic control in place and should plan alternate routes as work proceeds as part of the city’s pavement maintenance program.  The Electric

HEALTH NEWS

  • An infected visitor from Hill County exposed people at Prospect Heights Medical Center on May 27, prompting the Cascade City-County Health Department to advise those present to quarantine for 21 days if they lack immunity (a measles vaccine is highly effective). State health officials stress that measles spreads quickly and urge anyone exposed to check their vaccine records and watch for symptoms.  KRTV
  • Bella Vita Wellness is opening today at 618 Central Avenue in downtown Great Falls—offering the city’s only float pod therapy along with an infrared sauna, cold plunge, and massage therapy to help people relax and heal. Owners Barb Mullens, Brad, and local fitness expert Zack LaCasse built the center with care, drawing on their own challenges to bring a warm, family feel to the community.  KRTV
