CRIME NEWS

  • On Sunday, June 15, a person saw a non-verbal 3- or 4-year-old boy walking barefoot in the 2500 block of an alley on Second Avenue North at 8:10 a.m.—Officers and child-welfare personnel are working to find his parent or guardian.  KRTV

CULTURE NEWS

  • Paris Gibson Square Museum of Art added a permanent sculpture called 'Meet Me In Montana' by Ukrainian artist Janina Myronova during her 2024 residency at the Archie Bray Foundation. The larger-than-life piece combines Eastern European features with Montana iconography—welcoming visitors to the sculpture garden in Great Falls.  KRTV

ECONOMY NEWS

  • The Rocky Mountain region’s gas prices fell to an average of $3.08 per gallon today from last week’s $3.14 per gallon, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration. Prices are about 0.7% lower than the national average and mark a decline of roughly 5 cents from last month.  Great Falls Tribune

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Montana Department of Transportation is launching the Central Montana Transportation Study to plan for future transportation needs while addressing impacts from planned development and military activities related to the Sentinel missile project. Open houses for public comment are set for June 17 at Fergus High School in Lewistown and June 18 at the Civic Center’s Gibson Room in Great Falls, with an online session also available.  The Electric
  • City commissioners approved an additional $257,000 in TIF funds for the downtown streetscape project—this builds on $243,000 approved in September for improvements on the east side of 7th Street South from Central Avenue to 1st Avenue South. City planning director Brock Cherry said staffing shortages and turnover increased costs to $483,000—city staff will raise the allocation to $500,000 to cover extra cost increases until bidding begins.  The Electric
  • Election officials announced that Great Falls will hold its municipal election on November 4th without a primary because few candidates filed. The plan (saving $70,000-$75,000 and providing extra time to design the ballot) lets officials print envelopes early and reminds voters to update their information before the all-mail vote.  KRTV
