COMMUNITY NEWS

  • In celebration of National Dairy Month, Meadow Gold gave away locally produced milk at Montana ExpoPark on June 17 to support local farmers and businesses—truck driver Rob Hannah said the drive helped the community and the company will host another event in Billings later this month.  KRTV

CULTURE NEWS

  • A Juneteenth celebration will be held Saturday, June 21, from noon until 3 p.m. at Gibson Park in Great Falls—live music, lawn games, and free burgers and hot dogs will be offered to all attendees.  KRTV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Great Falls City Commissioner Rick Tryon posted on Facebook that mayoral candidate Jasmine Taylor should withdraw from the race for refusing to recite the Pledge of Allegiance—arguing her actions are un-American and unbecoming of a city leader. Taylor, who is running against incumbent Cory Reeves, said the focus on the pledge distracts from key issues like a water park's monthly $10,000 deficit, and ballots will be mailed on October 20 with the general election on November 4.  KRTV
  • CodeRED is a public notification system that quickly alerts residents in Great Falls and Cascade County by phone, text, email, or landline during emergencies; weekend storms with funnel clouds, high winds, and large hail reminded residents of its importance. Community Risk Reduction Manager Kate Brewer said a test alert will be planned soon—residents must sign up on the Cascade County website to receive these notifications.  KRTV
