  • Great Falls Park and Recreation and the River’s Edge Trail Foundation will host three free summer 5K runs on Wednesday evenings — June 25 at the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center, July 30 at West Bank Park, and Aug. 20 at Gibson Park/Elks Riverside. Participants will check in at 6 p.m. and start at 6:30 p.m. to get a gift card drawing entry from Scheels and earn a t-shirt if they run in at least two races.  The Electric

CRIME NEWS

  • Bing Ahenakew was transferred from Cascade County Adult Detention Center to Montana State Prison this month after signing a plea deal earlier this spring that sentenced him to 40 years — with 20 years suspended — for a May stabbing that left Tammey McWilliams, 51, dead and credited him with 701 days of credit for time served.  The Electric
  • Lawrence Brasda signed a plea deal last week for three criminal cases—one tied to a kidnapping investigation and car chase and the others involving aggravated burglary and strangulation—and he will be sentenced on August 4.  The Electric

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Great Falls International Airport will add a fee of $50 to $500 per international flight to pay for an estimated equipment cost of nearly $76,000 plus $10,000 a year for services+Officials said the fees will run for 3 to 5 years and will not affect domestic flights.  KRTV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today, the city and contractor Capcon LLC begin a downtown drainage project that has closed 3rd Street South from Central Avenue to 2nd Avenue South and 1st Avenue South at 4th Street South for storm drain replacement and detour traffic. Work along 1st Avenue South will start after July 4 to avoid parade disruptions — barricades and detour signs will guide traffic — as the city aims to reduce flooding downtown.  The Electric
  • Neighborhood Council 4 will meet at 6:30 p.m. on June 26 at Heritage Baptist Church on 900 52nd St. N to review a presentation from the Great Falls Animal Shelter, a Sunrise Park dog station update, and neighborhood concerns – residents can find details on council boundaries and contact information on the meeting calendar.  The Electric
