- ➤ Great Falls Fire Rescue said a structure fire on the 1100 block of Second Avenue SW on July 2 claimed the life of an elderly woman and killed her dog and cat when the blaze spread from the yard (fireworks are suspected to have sparked the fire) as investigators work to confirm the cause. KXLH
- ➤ On July 2, firefighters responded to a blaze at 1109 2nd Ave. S.W.—a witness reported that discharged fireworks likely ignited a yard fire that quickly spread to the home, killing an elderly woman, her dog, and her cat. The Electric

- ➤ On June 27, Safety Town ended its 10-day program for rising kindergarteners as they learned important safety skills like stopping at traffic lights, listening for smoke alarms, and crossing streets safely on a mini town course at Skyline School—showcasing new replicas donated by local businesses. Great Falls Public Schools organized the program with community partners, and it is now featured in a documentary on child safety training in our community. The Electric

- ➤ City Commissioners approved a $194,795 Community Development Block Grant agreement on July 1 to purchase a new playground for Morony Park at 111 12th St N—staff said they will buy and install the equipment this summer or early fall. - ➤ On July 2, the Cascade City-County Health Department ordered Great Falls Ice Company to stop making ice at its unlicensed facility on Great Bear Avenue after pieces of black plastic were found in some bags—retail establishments were warned the ice may not be safe.
