- ➤ Great Falls celebrates National Recreation and Park Month by highlighting its 57 parks that offer basketball courts, swing sets, and a bandshell at Gibson Park for live music. Park crews maintain the parks through mowing+ irrigation and trash pickup while Gibson Park’s flower garden also serves as a wedding venue. KRTV
- ➤ The Great Falls Animal Shelter approved a $54,054 contract on June 17 to Williams Fencing for installing outdoor kennels and a play yard for dogs, with work scheduled to begin this summer and finish by September—adding 20 individual kennels, two large group play areas, and two medium kennels for training sessions. The project is funded by the ASPCA Northern Tier Shelter Initiative to reduce kennel decline and improve outcomes for the dogs. The Electric
- ➤ A new highway sign on the Northwest Bypass was dedicated to honor Jim Loud Thunder Gopher, a respected Chippewa-Cree leader who guided his people during hard times — community members gathered for the ceremony with Blair Listening Thunder Gopher noting it was a special day for Native Americans. - ➤ Robert Everett Nebel died at Great Falls Peace Hospice House on May 16 at 102—his family will hold a celebration of his life at The Eagles Lodge on July 13 at 1:00 PM. Born in Neihart on July 12, 1922, he worked in mining, ran a gas station, and later managed an auto body shop in Great Falls before retiring in Monarch. KRTV
