BUSINESS NEWS

  • CHS Inc. has voluntarily recalled seven tons of Payback Champion Lamb Text B30 with Power Booster sheep feed produced at its Great Falls facility after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration found it may have elevated copper levels. Dealers in Montana, North Dakota + Wyoming received the product after Feb. 19, and customers are advised to return it for a full refund if their animals show signs of copper toxicity.  The Electric

  • Crews for the cable and streaming series Lost In, hosted by DJ BBQ, are filming in Great Falls this week at local spots like Sip ‘N Dip Lounge, Roadhouse Diner and Bellissimo Dance Studio—tourism officials say the national exposure from the upcoming episode will boost local business.  KXLH

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Montana Schools for the Deaf and Blind and the Rochester Institute of Technology have partnered to offer a free professional development series in STEM interpreting for educational interpreters; the training started with a virtual session and will hold in-person classes at MSDB in Great Falls later this month—up to eight participants will receive year-long mentorship as the Montana Legislature approved an incentive for certified interpreters.  KRTV
  • MSDB is partnering with the Rochester Institute to launch a free professional development series for educational interpreters that will teach specialized STEM skills through four sessions and a year-long mentorship for up to eight participants. The program, funded by the Montana Legislature, will begin with a virtual session and include in-person classes at MSDB in Great Falls later this month—an effort to boost the number of qualified interpreters in the state.  KXLH

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • City Commissioners rejected a bid of $1,601,797.16 for repairs at Lift Station 15 on July 1 due to a budget shortfall—only $800,000 was available—and staff will readvertise for bids as the station remains in use.  The Electric
  • Susie McIntyre—who worked at the Great Falls library since December 2005 and became director in 2019—has submitted her resignation letter and will work until December 27 to help find her successor. She increased programming, purchased a new Bookmobile, and celebrated the Library Levy passage during her tenure.  KRTV

HEALTH NEWS

  • The state health department opened a 60-day comment period for feedback on a draft waiver that may add Medicaid work requirements and copayments for doctor visits. Officials said the draft will be released on July 18 and federal approval will be requested in September—comments can be submitted by email or mail before the period ends.  Montana Public Radio
