Good morning, Great Falls.

Great Falls police charged Ryan Van Nguyen with negligent homicide for fatally shooting 19-year-old Jackson Molnar in the parking lot of the Albertsons-Target complex on July 13 & a GoFundMe was launched to help Molnar's family with funeral costs.

A jury awarded $11.2M to Seraphina 'Sera' Wilson, who was abused as an infant in 2009 and left blind with severe brain injuries that require full-time care—her father's live-in girlfriend, Alicia Hocter, was convicted and is serving a 30-year sentence—and the case shows that early warnings did not lead to needed protection.

The Great Falls City Commission is discussing a ban on fireworks after a recent fire may have caused an elderly woman's death—Commissioner Rick Tryon is calling for a full community conversation at an upcoming work session, and the proposal could go on the ballot if the readings occur by July 30 and August 11. This discussion follows long-standing debates as local officials weigh community safety and the impact on nearby county sales.
