CULTURE NEWS

  • Brie Jamieson, a Great Falls teacher aide, track coach, and mom, is competing on PBS's The Great American Recipe where her Caribbean heritage guides her cooking—filmed last fall on a Nashville farm, the show airs Fridays at 7 p.m. through August 15 and highlights everyday cooks along with the local military community.  KXLH

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • US Immigration and Customs Enforcement is holding several detainees at Cascade County Detention Center where individuals are kept for 48 hours unless another order extends their stay—Cascade County Sheriff Jesse Slaughter said he expects a small contract with the agency to involve around 10 detainees amid concerns over drug and human smuggling.  KRTV
  • Mobile home residents in Great Falls face steep rent hikes and uncertainty as companies, often out-of-state, buy up mobile home parks and raise costs. Lawmakers debated stronger tenant protections but failed to pass a bill, leaving residents on fixed incomes with few options until changes resume in 2027.  Montana Public Radio

  • One measles case has been confirmed in Cascade County — a reported vaccinated adult is isolating at home as the City-County Health Department investigates potential exposure points. Officials will post further details as the investigation continues.  The Electric
  • On Tuesday, July 15, Cascade County reported its first measles case when a vaccinated adult began isolating at home. Great Falls’ City-County Health Department is checking for public exposure — it may contact those exposed — and will update affected locations on the county website.  KRTV
  • The Great Falls City-County Health Department reported on Tuesday, July 15 that Cascade County confirmed its first measles case in a reportedly vaccinated adult (vaccination status not confirmed) who is isolating at home. Officials are assessing exposures from when the person was contagious and may contact those affected (investigation details are pending).  KXLH

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Great Falls Turf Club is holding a six-day horse racing meet over three weekends at ExpoPark where fans can bet on races after nearly 2,000 people came out and $100,000 was wagered last weekend. Trainers like Kayla Warren start at 5:30 a.m. to feed and train about 17 horses — officials said the event costs about $700,000 — and races will continue with Saturday and Sunday events at 1 p.m.  KXLH
