- ➤ A week-long search for a suspect in the Anaconda shooting had the Great Falls Police Department work with a joint police team — formed with the Cascade County Sheriff's Office — and led to Michael Brown’s arrest, easing local concerns. KRTV
- ➤ The GFPD supported state law enforcement in a week-long manhunt that ended with the arrest of Michael Brown, the suspect in the Anaconda shooting — Lieutenant Matt Fleming said the Central Montana High Risk Unit managed the steep terrain, easing fear in Anaconda and Deer Lodge. KXLH

- ➤ On August 12, Cascade County Commissioners reallocated unused ARPA funds to previously approved projects after some finished early or under budget — they allocated $59,903.68 to Two Buttes Water System and $209,500 to Centreville Public Schools, with remaining funds set for priority county projects. - ➤ Cascade County commissioners approved an $800 agreement with Market Research Group of Great Falls to appraise the Stockett transfer site on Aug. 12. The 1.55 acre property at 15 Cottonwood Coulee Road is open Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is being evaluated for a potential purchase to secure long-term stability for the local waste transfer system—its lease is set to expire soon.
