- ➤ Kaleb Pollington built a new shade canopy at Electric City BMX on 21st Avenue South to help riders stay cool before races. He spent over two years planning and constructing the project, raising more than $10,000 and 900 volunteer hours — his work now benefits the local BMX community. KRTV

- ➤ Julie Curtis of Nosh Catering has been awarded a scholarship to attend the Shared Kitchen Summit in Cleveland in November—her $927 registration is covered—and is asking for about $2,400 to cover travel and lodging, with confirmation due by Sept. 1. - ➤ Today, the Montana Renewable Energy Association is hosting a free Clean Energy Fair along the 100 block of Central Avenue in downtown Great Falls from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., where over 20 exhibitors showcase solar, wind, and battery storage+ visitors learn through workshops about off-grid living and electric vehicle tips while enjoying kids' activities and raffle prizes like an e-bike. - ➤ The environmental division of the City of Great Falls’ public works will partner with Veolia North America to host a household hazardous waste collection event on Sept. 13 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. just south of the Great Falls Police Department at 112 1st St. S — residents can drop off items such as antifreeze, gasoline, lighter fluid, and paint thinner while commercial waste will not be accepted. - ➤ The Great Falls Police Department will host its Citizens Academy next month to give 30 residents a behind-the-scenes look at police work and show how the department builds community trust—applications are available through the police website. KRTV
- ➤ The Great Falls Public Schools board reviewed its budget on Aug.21 and noted federal funding cuts while planning to increase state funds and use remaining COVID relief and reserve funds to cover a $792,656 shortfall. The board will set the new budget on Aug.25 and is also addressing shifts in poverty levels that affect Title 1 programs and staffing needs. The Electric
