ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Great Falls Fire Rescue responded at 4:34 p.m. Aug. 27 to a structure fire at a vacant house on 1409 8th Ave. S where the battalion chief found the alley garage fully engulfed and the engine crew quickly knocked down the fire—no injuries were reported and investigators are examining it as human caused. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Grace Home lost its vital van a few weeks ago when a participant in its veteran treatment court program stole it to avoid court and police— the vehicle was later found in Cascade County in an un-driveable state, leaving veterans without critical transportation for appointments and job interviews. - ➤ Cascade County Sheriff Jesse Slaughter said his agency was investigating a large-scale animal cruelty case after officers discovered 37 live and 4 dead dogs, 8 cats, a snake, 5 lizards, and a hedgehog at a Sun Prairie property on August 28—animals are now at Maclean-Cameron Animal Adoption Center and persons of interest have been identified. - ➤ Great Falls is seeing a surge in hiring as many restaurants, shops and long-established businesses are recruiting workers using both online and in-person methods. Job experts note that new ventures such as Pomodoro Italian Restaurant will open in fall while some, like the piercing studio from Three Moons Body Shop, opened on August 27. KRTV

- ➤ Montana’s unusual shape comes from frontier days of gold, greed and political corruption—Sidney Edgerton played a key role in setting its western boundary with Idaho. Today, Rep. Denley Loge from St. Regis says Shoshone County is claiming 50 to 60 disputed acres, and a federal survey has been approved to resolve the error. Montana Public Radio

- ➤ Spectrum customers can now watch The Spot-MTN channel on channel 12, which offers extra sports content including college football games and local team insider shows—new episodes air every Wednesday at 6 p.m. along with live sports events during the season. KRTV
