- ➤ Lewis & Clark Elementary School and the Montana School for the Deaf & Blind are constructing a new inclusive community playground at the school that gives all children a safe, accessible space to play. Sponsored by a US Department of Housing & Urban Development CDBG grant, the project nears completion and will be celebrated with an opening ceremony & community barbecue. KXLH
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Tiffany Kay Bourdeau was charged with aggravated animal cruelty— a felony— after deputies responded to repeated calls and found 37 dogs, 8 cats, one snake, 5 lizards and one hedgehog, along with 4 dead dogs, at a property on Eisenhower Drive where poor conditions were evident, and the animals are now cared for at the Maclean-Cameron Animal Adoption Center in Great Falls. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ City staff and the Downtown Development Partnership recommended an extra $382,690 in TIF funds on Aug. 27 to cover shortfalls for Mansfield Theater projects including replacing seats, restoring the ceiling, and upgrading the Civic Center elevator — city commissioners will review the proposal as staff continue fundraising to avoid using general funds. - ➤ CMR won its season-opening game against Helena Capital—highlights show key plays and a strong start for the team. Great Falls Tribune
- ➤ The C.M. Russell High football team scored 28 unanswered points Friday night at Memorial Stadium to beat defending state champion Helena Capital 28-14 in their season opener — quarterback Caleb Taylor threw two touchdowns and ran for another while tailback Jentri Nelson scored to seal the win.
