EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Tuesday, more than 2,300 students from 35 schools attended Worlds of Work at the University of Providence and Great Falls College-MSU to explore real-world job skills plus see demos from 66 regional employers. The event offered four career zones with interactive activities including IT challenges and medical simulations that helped students learn about various career paths. KXLH
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The U.S. House voted to scrap the Miles City Resource Management Plan for public land in eastern Montana—a plan developed with input from ranchers, tribes, and energy companies. The decision now goes to the Senate where a simple majority is needed to finalize the move. Montana Public Radio
- ➤ On September 23rd, the city planning board voted unanimously to recommend denial of a conditional use permit for Verizon Wireless to build a concealed 60-foot monopine cell tower at Dudley Anderson Park at 701 33rd S. The request now goes to the City Commission for review — residents worry that the tower will reduce park space for sports and outdoor play. The Electric
- ➤ City staff will repair a slide on Giant Springs Road starting Sept. 25 and running through Nov. 6; the project will close the south parking lot for trucks and heavy equipment while work on the north guardrail continues—following a $212,720 contract awarded to Montana Materials and Construction to address risks from oversaturation.
