COMMUNITY NEWS

  • CMR High School held its 2025 homecoming parade on Central Avenue, drawing crowds of students and community members in a display of school pride—vivid floats and colorful decoration highlighted the event. The festivities continued with a football game at Memorial Stadium on Friday night.  KRTV
  • The Great Falls Tribune has served northcentral Montana for 140 years. It started in 1885 as a weekly paper and soon became a daily—making it Great Falls’ oldest business—before joining Gannett in 1990 to be part of the USA TODAY Network.  Great Falls Tribune

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Great Falls Public Schools reported that thieves stole canvas coverings from tipis at Chief Joseph and Loy elementary schools between 2:00 and 2:20 a.m. on September 29—this loss has affected lessons on Indigenous traditions—leaving students without a key cultural resource.  KRTV
  • Great Falls Public Library is hosting free digital literacy classes every Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Cordingley Room until November 12—covering topics such as Internet basics, cybersecurity, email, mobile devices, and video conferencing led by network administrator Chris DiSalvatore, with each class entering attendees into a drawing for a free Amazon Fire HD10 tablet.  KXLH

  • PhD candidate Patrick Kelly at Utah State University launched a survey to learn how residents in Montana, Idaho, and Wyoming tolerate Yellowstone bison, which can damage fences and crops — his study will compare local findings with those from Poland where bison have returned.  Montana Public Radio

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A federal government shutdown has frozen key USDA services, leaving Montana farmers without needed help for loan processing and disaster relief—adding financial stress until a new farm bill is passed.   • A new state law now requires state wildlife officials to notify local and tribal governments 24 hours before relocating bears—supporters say the change builds trust while critics worry it may slow urgent wildlife management decisions.  Montana Public Radio

  • Jack Pinski of C.M. Russell High finished third at the Montana State AA Golf Tournament at Butte Country Club on Oct. 3 after shooting two rounds of 72; he tied for the lead after one round and birdied three holes each day + he improved on his previous ninth-place finish as a sophomore.  Great Falls Tribune
