COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Fish Wildlife and Parks will host the free Wicked Walk at Giant Springs State Park on Oct. 16 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The event will cover 0.66 miles along the River’s Edge Trail and include a trick-or-treat route map and free face painting provided by Samantha Houston Art — Magpie and the Honeybees Face Paint and Body Art.  The Electric

CRIME NEWS

  • On September 28th, Cascade County inmates were served food contaminated with blood when an inmate accidentally added blood from a nosebleed to a pasta tray and a kitchen supervisor returned it to service—prompting the sheriff to revoke the supervisor’s clearance and offer free bloodborne testing to the affected inmates.  KRTV

CULTURE NEWS

  • Today, the Great Falls Business Improvement District and Downtown Development Partnership unveiled four traffic signal art pieces along First Avenue South—located at intersections with Second, Third, Fourth, and Fifth streets—as part of a program started in 2011 that features local Cascade County artists.  KRTV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • At the Women's Expo in Great Falls, high school students sold tickets for the annual truck raffle that gives $6 per ticket to student groups and $4 to teacher grants. Tickets are available until October 17—winners will be drawn during the Crosstown football game on October 24.  KRTV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • City Commissioners approved a new police labor agreement with the Great Falls Police Protective Association on Oct 7 that will run from July 1 through June 30 and covers 84 sworn officers but excludes captains and the police chief. The deal increases shift differentials and annual pay with an 80—20 split for health insurance and was approved by GFPPA in August.  The Electric
  • The Great Falls Municipal Court has moved into two new modern courtrooms at the Civic Center after a $3 million project turned the historic Missouri Room into a space with updated technology—better access and more room for cases. Court staff say the new design will solve long wait times and the court will begin using the space on October 14.  KRTV
