  • At 13, local teen Quigley Grosse grew a 311-pound pumpkin at Anaconda Hills Golf Course after months of careful care using his own algorithm—he now plans to grow a 500-pound pumpkin next spring to beat his record.  KRTV

CRIME NEWS

  • Maclean-Cameron Animal Adoption Center rescued 37 dogs and eight cats after Cascade County deputies uncovered a large-scale animal cruelty case in Sun Prairie on August 28—these animals were given vaccinations, grooming, and basic training and are now ready for adoption.  KRTV

CULTURE NEWS

  • Great Falls observed Indigenous Peoples Day after Montana officially recognized the holiday with a bill signed by Governor Greg Gianforte, marking nearly a decade of Native advocacy. The community hosted free events—such as a Native American Fashion Show on October 10, a Round Dance on October 11, and a Soup & Story event on October 12.  KRTV
  • Today, the History Museum — 422 Second Street South — hosts a free screening of the documentary 'Big Medicine: York Outdoors' with a reception from 6 to 7 p.m. and a Q&A session with living history educator Hasan Davis, who has reprised his role as York since the Corps of Discovery bicentennial; the film follows eight African-American adventurers on a four-day river expedition along the Upper Missouri River Breaks to explore York's role in the Lewis & Clark expedition.  KXLH
