Cowboy Slick will open Friday from 5 to 9 p.m. at 117 Central Avenue after owner Shirstie Gaylord spent more than a year and major structural work saving the 140-year-old building and preserving exposed rafters, brick, and worn concrete floors.

Cascade County will meet Nov. 2 to consider a construction contract to repair Evans-Riceville Road, closed since a June slide.
A 30-day project will keep the road closed while subsurface work is done before winter, and the contractor will return in spring to finish work (Stockett detour or 1890s cut-across).
