- ➤ With the federal shutdown now in its 30th day, the USDA warned that SNAP benefits—averaging $170 to $200 per person—may stop if the shutdown continues into November. Local food groups such as Great Falls Community Food Bank and Salvation Army are set to help families put food on the table. KRTV

- ➤ Generous donors have stepped forward to replace stolen tipi covers from Loy Elementary and Chief Joseph Elementary in September—supporting Indigenous education and cultural heritage in our schools. Great Falls Public Schools will showcase 12 tipis at North Middle School on November 7—lighting them at night for public viewing. KXLH

- ➤ Cascade County Aging Services said that meals, transportation help and Medicare counseling for older adults remain funded during the federal shutdown — the funding comes from state money and the Older Americans Act.
