COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Toby's House Crisis Nursery received a $500,000 donation from Jimmy and Debbie Filipowicz, which will fund a new 5,000—square-foot facility at the corner of Second Street and Seventh Avenue South in Great Falls. The new building will open in summer and allow the nursery to expand its weekend and overnight care to serve more families in crisis.  KRTV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Students at St. Patrick’s Academy East in Great Falls held their first annual Veterans Day program Tuesday afternoon—featuring live music, choir songs, and handmade cards—and honored veterans and military families with simple acts of remembrance.  KRTV
  • Valley View Elementary School held a Veterans Day assembly Tuesday morning where the school's fifth- and sixth-grade leadership team led speeches, songs, and a POW/MIA table ceremony by JROTC cadets to honor military veterans. Students and veterans shared heartfelt reflections—veteran Benjamin Bentley included—as the event underscored the community's respect for those who have served.  KRTV
  • The Great Falls Public Schools board approved $5,000 to install a Raiders Course at Paris Gibson Education Center for JROTC. The physically demanding obstacle course built by JROTC teacher Kevin Byrd & supported by the 819th RED HORSE Squadron will feature removable equipment to keep the public off the course when students use it.  The Electric
  • Great Falls High School's Bison Dance Team is asking for community donations to buy new pompoms so all dancers can participate without paying individual costs—this fundraiser aims to support the team's performances at assemblies and community events.  KRTV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Military veterans gathered at University of Providence on Monday for the 20th annual Veterans Day ceremony, where retired Brigadier General Bryan Fox delivered a keynote speech honoring Montana’s military heritage—emphasizing that freedom comes at a cost. Local speakers also urged residents to visit the Veterans Memorial on River Road to pay their respects to heroes like Royal Alvin Caufield.  KXLH
