ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Great Falls Fire Rescue handled 38 structure fires so far this year by fighting seven in November and providing mutual aid for a Dec. 1 fire in Black Eagle—figures that are on par with last year's 41 calls. - ➤ Miss Linda's School of Dance will show its annual Christmas play on the big screen at Newberry in downtown Great Falls on December 14th at 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Longtime videographer Andy Southon will film the performance using high-end equipment after many rehearsals and costume changes. KRTV
- ➤ Brandon Horrocks will lead the Great Falls Symphony’s holiday concert at Mansfield Theater on Saturday at 3 p.m.—he is one of six candidates auditioning for the new conductor role—and he brings nonprofit experience and a focus on community orchestras. KXLH
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Town officials in Belt said a new multimillion-dollar water treatment plant will soon treat acid mine drainage from the Anaconda Coal Mine before releasing cleaned water into Belt Creek. Belt Mayor Jim Olson said the project, funded by state and federal grants including a $30 million Office of Surface Mining fund, is long overdue and expected to restore the creek’s fishing and recreation.
